Top 10 Teams In College Football 27 By OVR Rating

College Football 27 features over 100 schools to play as, and each one offers some kind of reason to choose them across all modes in the game. Whether you want to play for a school because of its stadium, uniforms, head coach, or history, every program has something to offer. However, if you want to play for the best of the best in College Football 27, then you want to pick a school with the highest overall (OVR) rating.
EA Sports has just released the top 10 teams in CFB 27 by OVR, and you can see the full list below. We’ve also included the top 10 offenses and defenses in the game at the bottom of the list.
10. Oklahoma Sooners – 87 OVR

Boomer Sooner comes in at the tenth overall spot in CFB 27. Oklahoma sees the return of quarterback John Mateer for the 2026 season, which should give them a huge boost offensively, but there are still some question marks on defense that drag down their rating a bit. The Sooners also don’t have as many notable playmakers on offense as the other top schools.
9. Georgia Bulldogs – 87 OVR

Georgia isn’t used to finding itself in the bottom half of the top 10 teams, but the roster still looks strong in CFB 27. As always, UGA will have a top defense, but there are major holes in the Bulldogs’ offense. Quarterback Gunner Stockton will primarily be responsible for putting points on the board when the defense isn’t creating turnovers.
8. Ole Miss Rebels – 88 OVR

Ole Miss shocked the college football world in 2025 after nearly making a Cinderella run to the CFB Championship. In CFB 27, the Rebs see the return of QB Trinidad Chambliss and RB Kewan Lacy, immediately making them a top offense in the game. While the loss of head coach Lane Kiffin looms large, it won’t make a huge impact on either side of the ball.
7. LSU Tigers – 88 OVR

New head coach Lane Kiffin left an 88 OVR team last season to join another 88 OVR team in the LSU Tigers this season. LSU features a top 10 position group on both offense and defense, but the team will heavily rely on transfer QB Sam Leavitt. Still, even an average season from Leavitt and LSU should be near the top of the SEC come year’s end. Also, playing at Tiger Stadium, the toughest place to play in CFB 27, is a huge benefit for the Tigers.
6. Miami Hurricanes – 88 OVR

Miami was another surprise team in 2025 that has huge aspirations in CFB 27. Led by Heisman candidate Malachai Toney, Duke transfer QB Darian Mensah, and returning RB Mark Fletcher Jr., the Canes should have one of the best offenses in the entire game. The looming question about the school is whether the defense can keep them in games or not.
5. Texas Longhorns – 89 OVR

Texas just misses out on being a 90 OVR team, but they’ll certainly take a top five ranking. The Longhorns are led by QB Arch Manning, who could be in for a Heisman-type year after putting up decent numbers in 2025. Texas also got a huge transfer in WR Cam Coleman, who should complement Manning very well. We can’t forget about the Horns’ defense either, which is rated 88 OVR in CFB 27.
4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish – 89 OVR

You’ll always find Notre Dame near the top of the team OVR lists, and CFB 27 is no different. The Irish are bringing back several key contributors from 2025, including QB CJ Carr, WR Jordan Faison, and CB Leonard Moore. Like usual, though, it remains to be seen if Notre Dame can contend with the big dogs in the Power Five conferences.
3. Indiana Hoosiers – 90 OVR

While you could argue Indiana deserves the top OVR team spot in CFB 27, it’s difficult to gauge just how good the Hoosiers will be this season. Head coach Curt Cignetti is a miracle worker, but losing the Heisman Trophy winner at QB, along with a slew of contributors on offense and defense, is going to push the coach’s abilities to the max. Still, Indiana has great players on both sides of the ball, but not quite as strong a roster as the top two teams.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes – 90 OVR

This one is a bit of a surprise, as many expected Ohio State to come into CFB 27 with the highest OVR rating. However, they’re tied with Indiana for the second-highest rating after failing to defend their National Championship title. Still, regardless of this rating, the Buckeyes have arguably the best roster in the country. The team returns QB Julian Sayin, WR Jeremiah Smith, and RB Bo Jackson on offense, while the defense has to replace eight starters from last season. Still, Ohio State has the best offense in CFB 27 and a top 10 defense as well.
1. Oregon Ducks – 91 OVR

The top three teams in CFB 27 all hail from the Big 10, as the Oregon Ducks come into the game with the top OVR rating. This rating likely stems from the Ducks seeing so many players return from last season, including QB Dante Moore, TE Jamari Johnson, WRs Dakorien Moore and Evan Stewart, and DE Matayo Uiagalelei. The Ducks sport the number one OVR defense and number two OVR offense in CFB 27, thanks in large part to those returning players and also high-profile transfers, such as WR Iverson Hooks and S Koi Perich. While Oregon still needs to prove they can win big games, they absolutely have the roster to dominate CFB 27.
