I can’t predict the future, but I do know this monstrous 1200 W power supply for $145 is a great Prime Day deal right now

This PSU is an absolute beast, and that pleases me greatly. It’s ready for any modern graphics card, and quite possibly the next generation, too. And for this price? You might as well go for the peace of mind of something very, very powerful for your cash.

Graphics card prices have been pretty tough for the past few years, I’ll grant you. But at some point, either now or in the future, you’re going to want to upgradeโ€”and you’ll need to have a power supply that can handle the juice.
Enter the Be Quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1200 W. Now, no one can predict the future. Perhaps Nvidia and the rest will finally do something about that pesky 12V-2×6 connector, who knows. But I’d put good money on this monstrous power supply being plenty for both now, and the next few years at least.

Unless the RTX 6090 draws eight bazillion megawatts, and you need your own small nuclear reactor to plug one in. Anyway, this is the exact PSU I’m eyeing up with my own cash, as I’ve had very good luck with Be Quiet! power supplies in the past.
In fact, there’s one running silently in the very rig I’m typing on now. Compared to the Pure Power 13 M, though, it’s an 850 W tiddler. This 1200 W behemoth is fully modular, ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compliant, and 80 Plus Gold certified.
It’s also, as you might expect, extremely quiet. There’s little to complain about here, especially as you can pick one up for $145 at Amazon as the Prime Day sales draw to a close. Most other PSUs of its ilk are well over $200 right now, and for this sort of cash, I’d say it’s the kind of thing you might want to pick up just for sheer peace of mind.
That’s my logic, anyway. I don’t know what my next GPU will be, but I do know this PSU can handle the massive power draw of the RTX 5090 straight out of the box, with a load of other super-powered components besides.
One thing to note, though, is that it’s only got two 8-pin PCIe cables (like many other power supplies), which means it’s not suited to some factory-overclocked AMD RX 9070 XT models with three 8-pin connectors, or multi GPU setups. Most other configs, though? You should be fine.
When it comes to power supplies, overkill is a very good thing indeedโ€”as is the idea of replacing yours before it eventually conks out. Might as well go big, ey?
