Think fast: this RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is $200 under the stupidly inflated price right now, but probably won’t be for long

ย

RTX 5060 Ti | 16 GB: $569.99While the specs suggest it should only be a little faster than the RTX 4060 Ti, the use of super-speedy GDDR7 gives the RTX 5060 Ti a surprisingly big boost. It’s probably not worth paying significantly over the MSRP to bag one, though, especially when the RX 9070 GRE is cheaper and faster. But if you want an RTX 5060 Ti in 16 GB trim, this is the cheapest we’ve seen in a long time.

The graphics card market is a bit broken right now, and the reasons are manifold, though still mostly come down to a basic AI=BAD. I’ve been tracking the cheapest GPU prices for over a year now, and we are in the process of shifting from a bit of a plateau in terms of pricing to new price rises almost across the board.
One of the most recent, and possibly most egregious price hikes has been with the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB card. That was a $430 GPU at launch and barely had time to settle into its MSRP before the market went into overdrive. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve tracked the cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB going from around $560 up to just shy of $800. Around the price of the RTX 5070 and more expensive than every single AMD GPU in the RX 9000-series.

The recent price spike for both the RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB make it tough recommendation against the relatively new RX 9070 GRE.

Everywhere else it has remained at that price, but right now you can pick up an MSI RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB for $570 at Walmart. I can’t find another version of that GPU anywhere that comes close to it. You can see above that the next cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB card is $760 at Amazon. So, if you’ve got your heart set on a 16 GB version of Nvidia’s fifth-tier RTX Blackwell GPU, then you had better strike while the iron’s kinda tepid (it is still well above MSRP, after all) because I doubt we’ll see this card around this sort of price again any time soon.

The major caveat to this deal, however, is that this is not the graphics card I would recommend if you had around $500 – $600 to spend on a new GPU. For me, as a regular PC gamer, I would be looking at the AMD RX 9070 GRE. Yes, it’s got less memory, but 12 GB is still absolutely fine for PC gaming today, and it’s RDNA 4 GPU is far more capable of high, smooth frame rates at higher resolutions than the RTX 5060 Ti. Even with 16 GB of VRAM at its disposal.

RX 9070 GRE | 12 GB: was $589.99 now $529.99The RX 9070 GRE is the latest entry in AMD’s RX 9000-series, and for the money, you’re getting a great mid-range graphics card. If it stays at this price, then it will be the sensible choice over the 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti. Let’s hope that there’s enough supply, as stocks are already looking a bit thin.

Sure, you’re not getting Multi Frame Generation of the sort of quality Nvidia can offer, but FSR 4 and its Redstone update have hugely improved AMD’s Radeon software feature set. And I’d take that superior GPU over Nvidia’s slightly better software stack right now.
The RX 9070 GRE is $530 at Amazon today, making it a good chunk cheaper than even this relatively cheap (compared to the other retailers, anyway) RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB card. And that, combined with it’s higher performance makes the GRE my preferred choice.
