The Lunar Game in The Blood of Dawnwalker is a major quest that you eventually receive if you’ve been targeting Bakir’s operations in the region. If you keep at it with certain activities, such as freeing prisoners from pillories, ransacking distilleries, and eliminating headhunters, Bakir will become so irate. Shortly thereafter, his jester, Farkas, will approach you with a plan to join a contest. Our guide has several tips to help you survive the night.

Think of the Lunar Game in The Blood of Dawnwalker as a PvPvE battle royale segment of sorts. It takes place in Bakir’s stronghold known as the Lunar Manor.
Basically, Coen will start with just low-tier equipment. You won’t have access to your high-end gear, so you have to look for upgrades in the fortress.
All the while, you must take out hostile creatures and human combatants.
Bakir does not know Coen is one of the participants. If you want to succeed, you have to avoid using vampiric powers, as doing so would make Bakir suspicious.
Farkas might be a jester, but he’s not clowning around.
Preparations and meeting the competitors
The tournament itself starts at dusk, but Farkas suggests arriving early so you can meet the other participants. Ideally, you should accept Farkas’ invitation during the afternoon–i.e. Daytime at 5x Time Segments. This gives you 3x Time Segments to stymy your opponents and look for allies.
We suggest doing these actions, with each costing 1x Time Segment:
The Cockroach NPC – Activate Focus Mode and pick up the herbs. Then, drop them in the cauldron. The Cockroach will drink this brew, causing him to get poisoned.
The Porcupine NPC – Talk to him and imply that you’re going to kill Bakir.
The Marten NPC – Talk to her and ask for her help in killing Bakir.
You can be in cahoots with the Porcupine (left) and you can poison the Cockroach (right).
Don’t blow your cover
When the preparations are over, you’ll watch Bakir’s speech. Don’t blow your cover here, so just respond by cheering and avoiding any response with the sword icon.
Then, once the Lunar Game proper begins, you need to be mindful of the combat encounters. Remember, you don’t have decent gear equipped and you only have a few healing items. Oh, and save after every encounter just in case.
Here’s what happens to the other competitors:
You’ll first bump into the Porcupine. Let him pass as per your earlier agreement.
You’ll learn that the Rat got killed by the Cockroach.
The Marten, sadly, will perish after her bout with a Tatzelwurm, which emerges after a cutscene.
If you poisoned the Cockroach earlier, he’ll just sit in front of a gate, completely weakened.
You’ll run into the Porcupine once more near the end. Bakir will goad you into killing him. If you refuse, one of Bakir’s guards will do the deed instead.
Note: You can use Voracious Bite on the rats a few times if you need to restore your HP. Farkas will joke around that you lived a harsh life and had to eat vermin to survive.
Cheer like the other contestants (left). Just don’t meet the same fate (right).
The trap and the riddle
There’s another section of The Blood of Dawnwalker Lunar Game that has a trap with a riddle. The riddle has this passage:
Silver coin shimmers on the right,
Middle feels like a summer light,
Left reeks of blood and fear,
Choose wisely or you will scream.
The correct answer is “the left one it is.” If you take note of the right and the middle, they both have positive connotations. But you’re dealing with depraved and sadistic vampire lords, so they’re definitely into the whole “blood and fear” mantra.
Yeah, the left seems the most on-brand for bloodsucking murderers.
A feast for champions
At the conclusion of the Lunar Game, Bakir will invite you for a feast. Your responses here are important–you want to be in Bakir’s good graces, but you still want to remain anonymous. If you make a mistake, Bakir will recognize you and you have to fight him alongside several elite guards and his consort.
Here’s how we replied during our playthrough:
“I’m sorry, but I’m not taking the mask off.”
“With pleasure.”
“Cheers!”
“To friendship and good fortune.”
“I want to die in my sleep at a ripe old age.”
“Is that all? Can I get my reward now?”
“I saw no need to be cruel.”
Play along so you don’t blow your cover.
Bakir boss fight
Satisfied with your answers, Bakir will then lead you to his treasure room, which is filled with countless items that he’s looted for the past few centuries. He’ll then ask you to tell him what your heart desires.
Now that he’s all alone, choose the reply with the sword icon–i.e. “I just want to rip out yours.” This leads to the Bakir boss fight in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Bakir’s speed is nothing short of extraordinary. He can instantly teleport from a faraway location, and follow it up with a flying kick or multiple punches. He also slams the ground, creating a seismic blood eruption that courses along a straight line. Dodge sideways to avoid taking the brunt of the damage.
He “khan” beat you up if you’re not careful.
The Lunar Game: Bakir’s death and the treasure room
Once you’ve defeated Bakir, you’re free to loot everything in the treasure room, including the valuables he offered earlier via dialogue. Here are some notable rewards and outcomes:
Similar to other vampire lords, drinking Bakir’s blood teleports you to the Anachora realm. Bakir is perfectly content being there, though you could still invite him into Coen’s being.
The Shadowstorm ability is unlocked. It slows down time for a few seconds.
You can loot Bakir’s Armor from his ashes. It’s a legendary medium chestpiece with weapon damage, dodge stamina cost, block stamina cost, and stamina gain (perfect blocks).
The Vrakhiric Bracers, another legendary item, can be looted from one of the chests. It has claw damage, vampiric health segment regeneration, vampiric ability cooldown, and AC restoration (perfect blocks).
