Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Makes A Big Change To Time Passing

The Legend of Zelda Direct today spent the vast majority of its time showing off the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake, with loads of new details and an extended look at its revised art style. One change is likely to have a big impact on Ocarina fans, and appropriately enough, it involves the passage of time.
While exploring Hyrule’s castle town, series creator Eiji Aonuma pointed out that the sun was setting, which means that now time will continue to pass while you’re in town. That’s a marked change from the original Ocarina, when time would stand still in town. The drawbridge would be closed at night, preventing you from entering the town, so you’ve never really been able to explore it at night.

Presumably most of the NPCs who occupy Hyrule castle town will be fast asleep if you poke around at night, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see some new characters or expanded side quests that make use of your ability to explore the town after dark.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time also adds a jump button, a major change from the original that had Link auto-jump when he reached edges. It’s coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on November 5, alongside a new Zelda-branded Switch 2 console and Pro Controller.
