50 mm titanium drivers deliver crisp sound, and the battery can offer up to 90 hours of power under the best conditions. Our James gave this set a very positive review, and he stands by their excellent sound and superb comfort to this day. I checked, and everything.

When it comes to gaming headsets, I’m all about a versatile device. I’m not quite talking about a set of cans that can take me from day to night, though it would help if they didn’t look too daft as I walk to and from PCG towers.
The Asus ROG Pelta won’t let me down. It’s nowhere near as loud and proud as my daily driver, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X in lilac, but I’ll grant you that some days call for something a little more understated. What I’m not going to stay quiet about though is the fact the Asus ROG headset is enjoying a 37% discount, and is now going for slightly more than $81.

The Pelta enjoys 50 mm titanium-plated drivers which are perfect for streaming music, sure, but let’s chat gaming. James wrote in his review that the headset rendered the highs and mids of Doom: The Dark Ages’ soundtrack faithfully enough, but found the bass to be a bit of a let-down (which is arguably not too surprising for this price point, or outside of the audiophile arena).
He observes, “The feeling of the Doom Slayer’s feet stomping on the pavement doesn’t quite match the weight I was expecting with the standard EQ settings. Pumping up the bass certainly helps, but the headset doesn’t quite have the wurble you may want from authentic bass. It’s adequate, but not quite as real sounding as some headsets.”
Otherwise, James felt the drivers delivered, especially in other shooters outside of the Doomslayer’s jurisdiction. He adds, “The intricacies of sound come through well, and directional atmospheric noises are pointed and easy to pick out. This makes listening for footsteps in the likes of Valorant incredibly easy. […] There’s a nuanced fright to the metallic clangs and rhythmic pounding of Buckshot Roulette that adds to the already creepy atmosphere of, well, every other part of the game. The comfort of the headset only adds to this feeling, never daring to intrude on the immersion of whatever game you’re playing.”

This headset lacks active noise cancelling, but the clamping force of the Pelta’s plush cups does block a little outside sound. Otherwise, you can quite comfortably wear these over the course of extended gaming sessions—particularly thanks to the headset’s nearly 90 hours of battery life.
Granted, you can only get up to that number if you switch the RGB lights off; with the lights on, the battery lasts closer to 60 hours, and with both the lights and the mic on in 2.4 Ghz mode, you’ll get about 45 hours of air time. The lighting here is pretty slight in its implementation, so you may not miss it all that much. But if you just have to have the Asus ROG logo glowing on your earcup, you’ll be pleased to know that you can get another three hours of game time from only a 15-minute charge.
