Echoes of Silenced Bells quest guide
The Blood of Dawnwalker Echoes of Silenced Bells quest pops up in your journal as soon as you’re done with the prologue. Just as Coen is about to leave Laslea Glen, Anca tells him that they should meet up at the Crossroads Inn.
The building is further southeast near the swamplands. It also has a Shrine, albeit one that’s damaged. We recommend repairing it by finding its heart, given that you’ll be fast traveling to this location frequently, especially if you plan on romancing Anca down the line.

St. Tyna’s Convent
St. Tyna’s Convent is just a stone’s throw away. With Anca alongside you, the mists should part, revealing an entrance into the facility. Things don’t go as planned, as Coen and Anca realize that the place is crawling with Zombie Nuns.
Soon thereafter, you’ll find yourself in a building overlooking the courtyard. Examine your surroundings to learn the following:

Your main goal is to secure safe passage for Anca heading to the library. This advances the quest and it costs 3x Time Segments.
You may also check the infirmary and bell tower for clues. These actions don’t cost time segments.
If you investigate the chapel, it’ll cost 1x Time Segment.
There are a dozen Zombie Nuns in the courtyard. They won’t notice you immediately. But, once you get too close, they’ll turn hostile and it’ll be hard to escape their clutches.

There are lots of creepy zombified nuns (left) shuffling around the courtyard (right).
Most Precious Thing and the Relic of St. Tyna
There are several methods that help you complete The Blood of Dawnwalker Echoes of Silenced Bells quest:

If you go to the infirmary, one of Brencis’ soldiers who’s holed up with his squad says that he can let you through to the library via the connecting wing.
The soldier needs the Relic of St. Tyna. This kickstarts a shorter side quest called Most Precious Thing. Searching for it in the chapel uses up 1x Time Segment.

Go to the chapel and use Focus Mode to investigate the objects. If it’s daytime, you can compel the soul of the recently deceased nun. Give her the prayerbook and the rosary to learn that the relic is inside the sacristy.
Go back outside the yard and look for a small building off to one corner–i.e. the sacristy. There’s also a shed behind it. Enter the shed and grab the Monastery Keys, then unlock the door to the sacristy. Inside, you’ll find the Relic of St. Tyna, an epic amulet that buffs maximum human health, Witchcraft ability damage, Witchcraft ability health cost, and activation charge restoration.

Brencis’ soldier (left) and the dead nun (middle) mention the Relic of St. Tyna. The item can be found inside the sacristy building (right).
How many times should you ring the bell?
You might be wondering if you should give the Relic of St. Tyna to the soldier. Well, that’s entirely up to you, but you do have more options if you try to ring the belltower.
If you check one of the smaller sheds across the sacristy, you’ll see a note that tells you what the nuns used to do depending on how many times the bell tolls. Even in death, they still act the same way as they did when they were alive.

When the bell tolls three times, the nuns go to the chapel.
When the bell tolls four times, the nuns go to the infirmary.
When the bell tolls five times, the nuns go to the dormitory.

If you pick either the chapel signal (three tolls) or dormitory signal (five tolls), the Zombie Nuns will go to those respective buildings. They won’t bother you and you should be able to roam around the courtyard. If you pick the infirmary signal (four tolls), the nuns will attack and kill Brencis’ soldiers. Several of the undead will remain inside the infirmary and library, which is a bad idea.
Note: You can tell Brencis’ soldier that you’ve changed your mind and that you won’t hand over the relic. This leads to a fight against three guards.
The tolling of the bells ought to keep the undead away.
The library
Regardless of your decision, it’s time to push onward with the Echoes of Silenced Bells quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Return to Anca and tell her that it’s time to go to the library (which costs 1x extra Time Segment).
The library is full of skill manuals, so be sure to check every bookshelf. These include manuals for perks and abilities like Dirty Trick, Witchcraft Mastery, Precision, Master Fencer, Mercurial Favor, Potent Blood, and Frugal Witchcraft. Then, once you delve deeper into the catacombs, you’ll find additional goodies like the Potent Blood Manual and Razor Claw Vial recipe.
Grab every skill manual in the library.
Leonica boss fight
In the depths of the catacombs, you have to face the last surviving nun in the convent. It’s none other than Anca’s old friend, Leonica, who is now known as the one who speaks with the devil.
Leonica is a Witch archetype, which means she can cast Ravenous Flock and Thornvine Explosion around her. Likewise, after depleting each health segment, she’ll disappear and summon weaker clones in her stead.
After beating Leonica, pick up various rewards:

Catacombs Key – Allows you to exit the dungeon.
Leonica’s Ring – An epic ring with passive activation charge restoration, Witchcraft ability health cost, and Witchcraft ability damage.
Unholy Vitality Manual
Herbal Remedies Manual

Be ready to face Leonica.
The notes in the fire and more books
When you talk to Anca, you’ll be presented with a dilemma. She wants to remove the curse from the convent, but doing so is extremely risky:

If you toss the notes into the fire, Anca will feel extremely distraught.
It’s better to give the notes to Anca so she can complete the ritual. She’ll succeed and she’ll be thankful for your trust.

Once you’re done, return to the Crossroads Inn and take stock of what just happened. This kickstarts a short quest called Betweed the Words:

First, go and prepare a warm drink for Anca. This costs 1x Time Segment.
Then, browse through the books and give her the one that she finds interesting. Move the candle along the spine to reveal writings. This costs 1x Time Segment and concludes the quest.

Don’t throw the notes in the fire (left). Later, commiserate with Anca as she tries to decipher the text (right).
That does it for our guide on how to complete Echoes of Silenced Bells in The Blood of Dawnwalker. After a short while, Anca will give you a follow-up quest, which you can learn about in our Stronger Than Achilles/Font of Life guide. Oh, and if you want Coen to get frisky with his friend, you can check our Anca romance guide, too.
