Father Florin story arc: In the Name of the Father and Hero’s End
Before you can help Father Florin in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you must first ascertain his location. If you haven’t done so yet, make your way to Svartrau City in the middle of the world map. Then, head over to the large cathedral that dwarfs the other buildings.
If you enter during the day, you’ll see Father Florin in the middle of a sermon, where he’s baptizing a baby with blood. Gross!
Florin does confide in you that he has a scheme. He then tells you to meet him in his hideout, which gets marked on your map. This kickstarts the In the Name of the Father quest.
Father Florin is planning something.
Detour time: The Treasury
Since you’re already in the cathedral, you might as well explore for a bit:
Walk to the main entrance and talk to the acolyte. Ask for his help in opening the storage room. This costs 1x Time Segment.
Inspect the objects inside the room and grab the Treasury Key from the journal.
Exit the cathedral and use the Treasury Key to unlock the building on the opposite side of the courtyard.
The young acolyte (left) can help you get the Treasure Key (right).
You can pick up a bunch of goodies inside the Treasury Building:
The Recipe for Potent Vitality Balm is inside a container on the first floor.
Go to the room on the second floor and take the Recipe for Potent Balm of Fortitude.
The same room has a Phial of Xanthe’s Blood. This is a legendary consumable that automatically teaches you the Blood Surge ability.
Check the first floor and move the shelf. Go down the ladder to the cellar and take the Recipe for Powder of Sharp Mind.
Don’t forget to grab the Stone Key from the altar. You’ll need it for a chest in the location where you’re headed soon.
Time to ransack the church’s treasury.
In the Name of the Father: Should you help Father Florin or kill him?
It’s time to continue the In the Name of the Father quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Go to the back of the building in the marked location and enter through the doorway. When you drop down the basement, you’ll realize that there’s a long-forgotten temple complex. Looks like Florin and his cohorts have made a shocking discovery.
Head to the inner chamber and have a chat with Florin. You have several options here:
You can agree to his plan since you need help stopping Brencis. This leads to the next quest, Hero’s End.
You can kill him outright. He’ll drop the Ancient Key that opens the door to the ruins, which will still allow you to do the Hero’s End quest. That said, you have to fight his other recruits.
You can also refuse to deal with him any further.
Do you trust this fella or not?
Hero’s End: The Hand of Fate
Okay, let’s say you want to help Father Floring in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Naturally, you want to keep him alive, too. Just head through the door unlocked by the Ancient Key and make your way deeper into the forgotten ruins. There are two legendary items for you to find, as well as an important object that you must examine.
First, make your way to the left until you see a chamber with a pit that has a greenish glow. Use your Planeshift to drop down the cavern and traverse the area. You’ll reach a small room guarded by several Hive Kobolds. Kill all of them and use the Stone Key from earlier to unlock the chest.
This nets you The Hand of Fate, a legendary sword that grants Witchcraft ability cooldown, Witchcraft ability damage, Activation Charge restoration (actions), and Activation Charge restoration (passive). Next, check the shallow pit with the ladder and take the Old Key. It opens a nearby door that leads you back to the temple complex.
The chasm with the green glow (left) leads you to a niche with a legendary item (right).
Hero’s End: The Strange Mural
For this part of the Hero’s End quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you need to look for a strange mural in one of the connecting rooms. It’s just an optional task, but inspecting it is important.
Once you do this, you’ll receive a side quest called Champion of Old, as well as the Decrepit Key. You can tackle this objective much later.
Inspecting this mural unlocks another quest.
Hero’s End: The Ancient Hero’s Armor
The main goal in The Blood of Dawnwalker Hero’s End quest is the acquisition of an armor believed to have been blessed. When you arrive in the main chamber, you’ll battle a miniboss called Rigoz, the Betrayed Hero, who’s surrounded by a bunch of lowly mobs. Eliminate the enemies and check out the loot:
Soul Stigma Manual
Recipe for Potent Balm of Fortitude
Ancient Hero’s Armor – This legendary heavy chestpiece has human health restoration, Witchcraft ability damage, damage against supernatural enemies, and Activation Charge restoration (actions).
Oh, and if you squeeze through the gap, you’ll find a corpse with the Simple Key. Use it to open the door at the top of the steps. This gives you a shortcut back to the initial area.
When you’re done, return to Father Florin and tell him that you’ve succeeded. For your efforts, you’ll receive not just 250 XP, but also a way to infiltrate Greifberg Castle. Florin will inform you about a secret knock sequence that allows you to enter the courtyard. Note that this method lets you enter the citadel on your own during the day, as opposed to climbing up the walls at night.
Take out the boss and claim a legendary armor.
Champion of Old: Erka’s Sword
One last thing: Make sure you’re tracking the Champion of Old quest and go to the marked location on the map. If you cut through the vines, you’ll spend 3x Time Segments. Inside, loot some of the stuff, including a Soul Stigma Manual. Then, inspect the other murals.
After inspecting all the murals, a miniboss named Erkas the Repenter will emerge. He’s your typical Forgotten Warrior archetype, so he shouldn’t pose too much of a threat. Defeating him nets you Erka’s Sword, a legendary weapon that has maximum human health, weapon critical hit chance, weapon critical damage, and damage against supernatural enemies.
And one more legendary for the road.
That does it for our guide on how to help Father Florin in The Blood of Dawnwalker. With all these legendaries, you might be raring to rush Brencis’ citadel. Of course, if you need more powerful gear, you probably want to obtain the Sword of St. Mihai, too.
