Are you planning to romance Anca in The Blood of Dawnwalker? This herbalist comes from the same village as Coen, and she’ll be your companion early in the game. There’s a lot of flirtation as these two continue to exhibit “will they, won’t they” moments. But if you play your cards right, you might get the reward that you’re waiting for. Oh, and before we divulge all the details, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.

The Blood of Dawnwalker – Anca romance guide
The Blood of Dawnwalker Anca romance occurs at the end of a mission called Stronger Than Achilles. It’s actually preceded by other quests that comprise Anca’s arc: Withering Away, Echoes of Silenced Bells, Between the Words, and Where Old Devils Lie.
As of the time of this writing, we know of two guaranteed fail states:
Anca’s death – You might kill Anca if Coen speaks to her while in vampire form and he has low health.
Friends only – Coen chooses to remain just friends with Anca.
That said, we’ve also added details from Anca’s arc. These include flirtatious moments between the two and dialogue responses to push the romantic vibe further.
There’s no cure for that.
Prologue: Withering Away
If you want to romance Anca in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you can get started as early as the prologue:
Meet Anca by the river and ask her about her scars. Pay her 50x denarii for the ingredients.
When you enter her hut, say that you’ve missed studying Latin with her. This costs 2x Time Segments.
Pick the book with the red cover and keep insisting that the two of you read Catullus’ poem.
Reply with “kisses,” followed by “grains of sand.”
When Anca gets injured, say that she has to take off her shirt. Tend to her wounds afterward.
Reply with “I enjoy the company more than the books.”
After Brencis kidnaps Coen’s family, continue being nice to Anca. Apologize for raising your voice and say that you didn’t mean to scare her.
Coen and Anca have their moments early in the game, such as reading books (left) and dressing wounds (right).
Echoes of Silenced Bells
Next up, Coen and Anca head to St. Tyna’s Convent where she used to live as a nun:
If you talked to Anca about her scars and she opens up to you, respond with: “It must’ve been painful.”
After defeating Leonica in the catacombs, respond with: “Pity we couldn’t do more for her.”
Anca will then insist that she has to complete a ritual to save the souls of her fellow nuns.
“This won’t end well.”
“There, take them.” – This costs 1x extra Time Segment.
Do not throw the notes into the fire.
Give Anca the notes and let her complete the ritual.
Between the Words
The Blood of Dawnwalker Anca romance arc continues in a short quest where she and Coen decipher clues in books:
“Hope you had more luck than me.”
Optional: Prepare a warm drink for Anca – This costs 1x Time Segment.
“It’s my pleasure.”
“There are better sources of joy than herbal brews.”
“Always? What do you mean?”
“Your feelings toward me–it’s more than just faith.”
Give her a cup of tea after a long day of delving into dungeons.
Where Old Devils Lie
Anca will have another quest, but you have to wait a day or two:
In the inn: “Who knows what else I have in store for you?”
While Coen and Anca are sitting by a lake: “I care about you.”
In front of the ruins: “Nice to see you smile” and “I’m enjoying your company, too.”
Another bonding moment by the lake.
Stronger Than Achilles
Coen and Anca will head deeper into the ruins, leading to more serious conversations between the two, as well as a pivotal decision.
After Coen’s arm is injured due to the blood sacrifice pillar: “Better me than you.”
After learning the Anca wants to use the Font: “You were hoping to use the Font yourself” and “I would, too, in your place.”
Follow these up with: “I’d do anything for you” and “I love you.” Do not tell Anca that she’s just a friend.
In the final chamber, Coen has to decide what to do with the Font of Life since only one person could gain its power. As far as we can tell, the decision has no bearing on the Anca romance scene. As such, we opted to have Coen use the Font to gain a health regeneration perk.
You can choose whether Coen or Anca uses the Font. The two of you can even destroy the structure to get a legendary item instead.
Sexy time: Anca romance scene
Now it’s time for the Anca romance scene in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It occurs at the end of Stronger Than Achilles once the couple has returned to the inn. Note that this conversation includes options in which Coen and Anca remain friends, so you probably want to avoid those kinds of replies.
“There’s a conversation we need to finish.”
“I meant what I said.”
“Screw decency. I want you, too.”
After the kiss: “Not sure I got that. One more time?” This leads to a sex scene between Coen and Anca.
Will they? Won’t they? Will they? Won’t they…. oh, they definitely did.
