The official campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was revealed during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast, and it gave a surprise reveal of star Mads Mikkelsen, who is known for roles such as Death Stranding and Hannibal. Based on his character’s interactions with Captain Price, it’s likely Mikkelsen is playing a major antagonist in Modern Warfare 4.
Activision’s latest blog gives further campaign details, teasing a “catastrophic weapon of war” and a mysterious enemy called the Archer, who may be the character played by Mikkelsen.
“An unknown weapon of war is being delivered to a dangerous enemy known only as “The Archer,” the publisher says. “What’s the weapon capable of, and what are the Archer’s motives in acquiring it?”
Modern Warfare 4 is set to intertwine two storylines, continuing a narrative around Modern Warfare’s Captain Price and Task Force 141 while also focusing on a conflict that has erupted on the Korean Peninsula. This new Korean storyline introduces a whole new cast of characters to the game, including Private Park, played by Young Mazino, who is best known for his roles on Beef and The Last of Us.
It’s uncertain how these two separate storylines will collide, but players won’t have to wait long to find out. Modern Warfare 4 will feature campaign early access, allowing players to jump in on October 16.
