The BlackShark V3 is only $10 more right now, mind, so if you fancy its better mic, aesthetics, and more accurate soundscape you might want to check that one out. In which case, why opt for the Cloud Alpha Wireless, you ask? Good question, and the answer primarily lies in that whopping battery life.

It’s not a typo, you really do get 300 hours of battery life with this headset, which is tons more than we’ve seen in any other gaming headset. And as someone who regularly uses the Pro version of the BlackShark V3 that has the same 70-hour battery life, I can attest to the fact that it can get annoying to have to charge it every few days. The HyperX instead offers literally 4x that.

They also offer a nice amount of quality bass, which isn’t something to turn your nose up at, especially for casual and cinematic gaming. Throw in the comfy ear cups and headband, and you have a pretty wonderful wireless deal here. The only real downside is the mediocre mic—which is nevertheless perfectly fine for in-game comms—and a very gamer-y design that you might not want to take out into public.
These caveats aside, there’s good reason we kept it at the top of our list for so long, and the fact that the BlackShark V3 just about knocked it off the top rung doesn’t make it any worse. For those who really value that battery life, it will still be the better choice.
