While I only have eyes for my iBuyPower gaming desktop, the fans loudly announcing themselves whenever I boot up 007 First Light does make me ever-so nostalgic for my laptop gamer days. I don’t exactly miss toasting myself with the underside of a hot gaming laptop, but there are plenty of deals ahead of Amazon’s Prime Day sales tempting me back all the same.
B&H Photo have come out swinging with just such a deal, offering the Legion Pro 7i for only $2,549.
This 16-inch gaming laptop packs in a Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU alongside a delectable 32 GB of DDR5. It’s getting rarer and rarer to see much more than 16 GB of RAM in a decently priced gaming laptop or desktop thanks to the memory supply crisis (or as our Jacob has dubbed it, the ‘RAMpocalypse’).

While that’s the cheapest we’ve seen the Legion in 2026, we did see it for about 200 bucks less late last year. Due to the knock-on effects of the aforementioned memory-pocalypse, it will be some time before we see a return to more reasonable, circa-2025 prices.
For the time being, you’re still getting one of the best gaming laptops for much less than $3,100…which is how much this particular model is going for on Amazon right now.
I’ll stop bemoaning the state of tech for the moment. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i also features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, which is a 24-core hybrid chip that bolsters its gaming grunt with eight performance cores.
What really grabbed my attention though was the 16-inch OLED screen. Yes, I’ve got a 27-inch OLED monitor at home, but I’m always fascinated by laptops trying to squeeze in such a screen to even smaller dimensions.

Were I a younger, more spry gamer often on the move, I’d definitely consider scooping up this RTX 5080 laptop. Alas, it’s just as well I’m neither young nor do I have especially deep pockets, as I’m sure carrying around this chunky lappy around would throw my back out either way. Furthermore, I’m told the outer shell is a fingerprint magnet, so it’s just as well this gaming laptop exists far away from my chip-dust-encrusted student years.
Ah well, some things are simply not meant to be.
