Are you thinking about which prologue quests to prioritize in The Blood of Dawnwalker? While several tasks are presented to you at the start of the campaign, you won’t be able to complete all of them. Given the time constraints, you have to be mindful of the objectives that you ought to tackle. Our guide here has a few recommendations, but be forewarned of some minor spoilers, too.

The Blood of Dawnwalker – Prologue quest priorities
There are nearly a dozen missions in the prologue. In fact, you’re only told that your main goal is to complete your chores–whatever you decide on doing. However, you have to consider some important caveats:
The game utilizes a unique Time Progression mechanic, which is represented by the Time Bar in the upper-right corner of the screen.
If you advance certain quest steps, time segments will elapse–i.e. represented by pips on the Time Bar.
There are eight pips during the day. Once you use up all of these, the game will immediately transition into night, which is also when the Blood Mass occurs.
The Blood Mass and subsequent events won’t bode well for Coen, his family, and the rest of the villagers in Laslea Glen. All time-sensitive quests that you’ve yet to finish–i.e. those with a clock icon–will automatically fail.
You’ll be effectively locked out of several missions and rewards. That’s why it’s imperative that you think twice about the priority quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker’s prologue.
A map showing the locations of suggested prologue quests.
Prologue quest #1: Withering Away
Time Segments: 2 to 3
Tip: Withering Away is perhaps the most important prologue quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. That’s because it’s where you meet and have a chance to flirt with Anca. Of course, if you follow her instructions, you’ll also be able to cure Coen’s mother. You need to have around 2 to 3 Time Segments to spare for all interactions.
Rewards: N/A

Prologue quest #2: Enter Not
Time Segments: N/A
Tip: There’s a ruined house just north of Anca’s hut. Loot the resources in the sacks outside and climb up to the rooftop. When you jump down the hole, be sure to grab the Last Confession and Figurine of St. Jude.
You can give the Figurine of St. Jude to Father Florin inside the church. You have to do this before the Blood Mass begins.
If you forgot to do so, you can leave the figurine on the altar after completing the prologue.
Reward: 100 XP
The abandoned house (left) has a figurine (middle) that you can obtain. Later, you can hand it over to Father Florin (right).
Prologue quest #3: Deep Down
Time Segments: 2
Tip: The quest comes from an NPC named Gavril. You have to search for Lazar, who’s fallen down a pit in the bogs. Down below, you’ll find yourself in an ancient temple, and you’ll also battle a Forgotten Guardian miniboss.
Rewards:
Mireleaf Bracers (rare bracers) – From the sarcophagi in the ruins.
250 XP and 50 denarii from Gavril and Lazar once they’re reunited.
Drop down the pit (left) and save Lazar from the Forgotten Guardian (right).
Prologue quest #4: If a Tree Falls in the Forest
Time segments: N/A
Tip: Go to the bog northeast of the pit where Lazar fell. You should spot a fallen tree that you can investigate via Focus Mode. Follow the tracks all the way to the north until you see a dead soldier. Take the Order: Patrol quest item.
Rewards: 100 XP – Talk to Zdislav back at the village.
Start from the fallen tree and track down the target’s whereabouts.
Prologue quest #5: Blasphemy
Time Segments: 1
Tip: This is a pretty decent prologue quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It comes from an NPC named Dana, who says that her banner is missing. Initially, you have to use Focus Mode to investigate the footprints and markings near her hut. Then, you must look for other villagers who are using walking canes. Eventually, you’ll learn that Premysl stole the banner.
Rewards:
Daylight Amulet (boosts your HP as a human) – Given by Premysl.
325 XP and 25 denarii – Complete the quest by telling Dana about Premysl.
Help out Dana (left) by getting the banner from Premysl (right).
Other notable quests and treasure hunts
There are other notable prologue quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Feel free to do these if you have Time Segments to spare.
Like Father, Like Son
Time Segments: 1
Tip: This quest becomes available after completing Withering Away and giving the brew to Coen’s mother. You need to spar against Coen’s dad.
Rewards: Charge Manual and 100 XP
Dead Drop and Bandits’ Treasure Map: Laslea Glen
Time Segments: 2 – These tasks do not have the time-sensitive icon.
Tip: You can start Dead Drop by heading to the eastward path. The first Time Segment triggers when you approach the bandits’ hideout. Inside the hut, you’ll find a treasure map that leads to a bear cave further to the east. Digging for the treasure uses up another Time Segment.
Rewards:
Broad Swing Manual, Hunter’s Trousers (rare pants), and other items – Dropped by one of the bandits.
Polished Long Cleaver (rare weapon), Golden Cross (junk), Minor Fortitude Paste (recipe), and 100 denarii – From the buried chest.
Into the Den
Time Segments: 1 – This task does not have the time-sensitive icon.
Tip: There’s a bear cave near the starting point for the If a Tree Falls in a Forest quest. Loot the corpse to find a Tattered Note. It tells you of a shed marked with an “X”–pretty much another buried treasure chest.
Reward: Rebel’s Falchion (uncommon weapon), Artisan’s Tunic (uncommon chest armor), and Letter with a Tip (tells you about the silver vendor NPC in Svartrau City).
The bandits (left) and bears (right) might be hiding some goodies.
That does it for our guide on the best prologue quests to prioritize in The Blood of Dawnwalker. With these objectives completed, you should be ready for the journey ahead. Who knows? If you’re lucky enough, you might be able to eliminate Brencis before he can cause more havoc.
